Parents who are reluctant to approve medical treatment for their children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can be reassured by being given information about the effectiveness of stimulant and nonstimulant agents, paired with nonpharmacologic strategies. The research-supported ramifications of not treating ADHD may be equally convincing.
