ABSTRACTThe combination of abciximab in full doses and reteplase in half doses did not significantly reduce the rate of mortality at 30 days in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (MI) when compared with reteplase in full doses in the Global Use of Strategies to Open Occluded Coronary Arteries (GUSTO V) trial. However, subgroup analysis indicates that the combined regimen reduced the complications of acute MI, representing an important alternative strategy for pharmacologic reperfusion.
